An Ode to Programming
What has programming taught me?
It makes me frustrated. It makes me tired.
It causes me to yell at an inanimate object,
Glaring at an error that makes no sense, yelling “LIAR!”
It demands focus, preoccupying my thoughts.
I spend hours debugging, sometimes for naught.
It has my attention even after I physically leave my workspace.
Not being able to eat in peace, shifting in place.
Am I simply missing a bracket
Or is the bug more cunning?
That feeling you get when you invest so much time
but the dang thing ain’t even running.
What has programming taught me?
For every one thing you learn,
there is an entire wealth of knowledge you’ve yet to discover.
As soon as you learn one thing, there will always be another.
